Dr. Madelin Ramil appointed as the new Dean of the School of Podiatric Medicine at Barry University

A physician, educator, global health advocate, and leader, Dr. Madelin Ramil brings more than 25 years of clinical and academic experience to her new role as Dean of Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine. A proud alumna of Barry, she views this appointment as a full-circle moment. As an opportunity to give back to the institution that shaped her career and to prepare the next generation of podiatric physicians for the future of healthcare.

Born in Cuba and raised in California, Dr. Ramil earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and teaching credential from UCLA before pursuing her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at Barry University, where she emerged as a student leader and served two terms as student body president. During her training, she played a pivotal role in establishing The Dr. Charles C. Southerland Jr. Yucatan Children's Project in partnership with the Mexican Ministry of Health, a global health initiative that continues to provide vital care to underserved children. She completed her Foot & Ankle Surgical Residency in Broward County, graduating as Chief Resident, and went on to advanced orthopedic training in Barcelona and Rome, experiences that furthered her international perspective and surgical expertise.

Dr. Ramil has built a distinguished private practice at The Center for Foot Surgery while also serving as Clinical Director, Research Director, and Assistant Residency Director at HCA Florida Westside Hospital’s Foot & Ankle Residency Program. A nationally and internationally recognized speaker, she frequently lectures in Spain and across the U.S., sharing advanced surgical techniques and collaborating with industry partners to bring innovative products into both practice and education. She has held leadership roles at major Broward County hospital systems, contributed to wound care centers, and served with the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons and an active member of APMA, FPMA, and the Broward County Podiatric Medical Association.

Deeply committed to service, Dr. Ramil has volunteered on mission trips to Mexico for more than 15 years, maintaining her involvement with the Yucatán project for nearly two decades. Alongside her professional accomplishments, she has embraced her role as a baseball mom, proudly supporting her son through a successful collegiate career.

As Dean, Dr. Ramil brings vision and global experience to the School, establishing that its students are equipped not only with clinical excellence but also with the leadership and humanity to advance the profession.
