Biography

Bryan Hiveley is an internationally recognized and internationally awarded visual artist, video artist, and educator, serving as Associate Professor of Visual Arts at Barry University. His interdisciplinary practice spans contemporary ceramics, sculpture, and experimental video, with work recognized in major international exhibitions, juried festivals, and art publications across the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America.

Hiveley’s ceramic and sculptural work has been presented in prominent juried exhibitions at leading institutions, including Baltimore Clayworks, the Appalachian Center for Crafts, and the Tweed Museum of Art, and is documented in major publications on contemporary ceramics and sculpture. His professional experience includes competitive residencies at internationally respected centers, including the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences, and the Tainan National University of the Arts in Taiwan, demonstrating sustained global professional engagement.

In addition to his studio practice, Hiveley creates award-winning experimental videos exploring environmental and ecological themes. His work has received multiple international awards, including honors from the New York Movie Awards, Hollywood Gold Awards, Milan Gold Awards, and Florence Film Awards, with additional recognition at festivals in India, Brazil, and Thailand. He has also been a featured presenter at the Global Art & Design Education Expo, contributing to international dialogue on art education and creative careers.

Hiveley holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of Minnesota Duluth. At Barry University, he brings his global professional experience into the classroom through interdisciplinary collaboration, mentorship, and project-based learning.
